Program Description: This program aims ensuring a point of view that is able to evaluate the connection with the mystic cultures in the other religions after understanding the place of Sufism in the Islamic thought as well as its effect on the religious, philosophical, literal and cultural field. The program offers courses on the historical origin, development, and content of Sufism and its religious significance in Islam. It also provides an education in the central themes and figures of Sufism, concentrating on the theoretical and practical aspects of the discipline. As a part of its curriculum, the program focuses on the history of Sufism in Turkish lands, especially in Anatolia. It offers courses on the pioneering figures of Sufism, including Jalal al-Din Rumi, Yunus Emre, and Haji Bektash Veli, who served humanity at both the national and international level through their groundbreaking ideas and works. All these figures offer models of building a more peaceful and brotherly life based on love and tolerance. The program gives importance on interdisciplinary studies and in this context, it works in close collaboration with various fields, including Psychology and Sociology.

Graduation Requirements: Master’s Degree Program with thesis consists of at least seven courses, one seminar, other educational activities and thesis that totals to a minimum of 21 National Credits and 120 ECTS. Students should take 60 ETCS from courses and seminar, and 60 ECTS from thesis. Non-thesis Master’s Degree Program consist of at least 10 courses and semester project that totals to a minimum of 30 National Credits and 90 ECTS. In order to be successful in a course, student’s grade must at least 2,75 out of 4.
