Prof. Dr. Şamil Dağcı was born in 1955 in Erzurum. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Divinity in 1981. He worked as mufti 1983-1986. In 1987, he started to work as research assistant in the department of Islamic Jurisprudence at Ankara University. He went to Egypt to make researches about his specialty for a year. He completed his doctorate in 1992 and became associate professor in 1997 and professor in 2004. He served as a member of the Higher Council of Religious Affairs of the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Turkey between the years 2001-2003. He was appointed as dean of Divinity Faculty at Ankara University in 2020. Since then, Prof. Dağcı, has been carrying out this task. He wrote several books, book chapters, and articles in both academic and popular journals and presented papers in the national and international symposiums.
